The exhibition Home: Work Action represents a continuation of the project Dom’s artistic and research-based exploration of the concept of home. Taking the idea of the Work Actions as one of the most recognizable symbols of Yugoslav socialist heritage, the participating artists examine the ways in which community, solidarity, and collective labor are reflected in contemporary society and personal experience.
Home is not viewed solely as a physical space, but rather as a complex network of relationships, memories, rituals, and values that shape one’s sense of belonging. Within this context, the motif of the Work Actions serves as a framework for reflecting on collective creation, collaboration, and interconnectedness, while also offering a critical perspective on a legacy that continues to leave its mark on everyday life.
The exhibition brings together artists of diverse sensibilities whose works construct a multilayered image of home through personal narratives, archival fragments, contemporary media practices, and symbolic gestures. The works of Dimitrije Despotovski, Jelena Ostojić, Sara Mladenović, Isidora Svilar, Una Mladenović, Tijana Borbelj, Aleksandra Milutinović, Jovan Bogdanović, Dunja Berar, and Olga Ljubisavljević form a polyphonic whole in which personal memories, family histories, archival traces, and contemporary artistic expressions intertwine. United by a shared theme, the artists employ a variety of media and approaches to investigate what home means today, how a sense of belonging is formed and how collective experiences continue to shape our understanding of both the past and the present.
